Easy Low-Prep Kindergarten Thanksgiving Crafts (Print, Cut, Done)

Easy low-prep kindergarten Thanksgiving crafts: turkey disguises, gratitude feathers, counting crafts and printable table decor you can set up in minutes.

The weeks before Thanksgiving break are busy. Kindergartners are buzzing, schedules are packed, and the last thing a teacher needs is a craft with fourteen pieces and a glitter cleanup. The good news is that some of the most loved Thanksgiving crafts need little more than a printer, crayons, scissors and a glue stick.

Here are our favorite low-prep Thanksgiving crafts for kindergarten. Each one teaches something along the way: fine motor skills, counting, early writing or simply saying thank you.

What makes a craft truly "low-prep"?

A low-prep craft should pass three tests:

  1. Print and go. No tracing templates onto construction paper the night before.
  2. Kid-sized steps. Five-year-olds can do most of it on their own: color, cut along thick lines, glue.
  3. One or two supplies. Crayons, scissors and glue. Cardstock is nice but optional.

Everything below fits those rules.

1. Turkey in Disguise (craft + writing)

The turkey doesn't want to be dinner, so your students help it hide! Kids color and dress up a printable turkey as a firefighter, a princess, a pumpkin or anything they can dream up, then draw or write about their disguise. It's a natural bridge from art to early writing, and the finished turkeys make a hilarious hallway display.

Tip: Send a blank turkey home as a family project on Monday and display the returns on Friday.

2. Turkey Gratitude Craft

Each feather becomes a place to share something your student is thankful for. Pre-writers can draw a picture, and early writers can copy or sound out a word. Glue the feathers onto the turkey body and you have a gratitude display that's ready for family conferences or the Thanksgiving feast.

3. Turkey Feather Counting Craft

Math meets crafting. Children count and attach the right number of feathers to each turkey, which is great practice for one-to-one correspondence. Pre-K and young kindergarten groups love it, and older kindergartners can use it as a quick math center.

4. Print-at-home table crafts for the feast

Hosting a class feast or sending something home for the family table? Our DIY Thanksgiving Crafts pack has place cards, table decorations and simple cut-and-color projects. Every craft comes in two styles: a color-in version for kids and a ready-colored version for grown-ups in a hurry.

5. Calm coloring for the last half hour

Not every craft needs scissors. On the afternoon before break, cozy coloring pages are a gift to everyone's nerves. Try our free Thanksgiving coloring pages or the Thanksgiving coloring collection.

Keep the learning going with low-prep packets

If you want crafts plus no-prep practice for the whole month, these are worth a look:

Quick printing and setup tips

  • Cardstock for crafts that stand up (turkeys, place cards). Plain paper is fine for coloring.
  • Pre-cut only the tricky parts. Let kids cut the big, simple shapes themselves.
  • Glue sticks over liquid glue for feathers. It's faster and less messy.
  • Batch your printing. Print the whole week's crafts in one go on Monday.

Our how to print guide covers scaling and printer settings.

A thankful classroom, without the stress

The best Thanksgiving crafts aren't the most complicated ones. They're the ones kids can do themselves and feel proud of. Pick one or two from this list, print them, and enjoy a calm, cozy week before the break.
