Make a Thanksgiving gratitude tree with kids: simple steps, prompts, and a free printable gratitude craft to start your thankful tree today.
What's a gratitude tree?
A gratitude tree is a branch (or a paper tree on the wall) where each "leaf" holds something your family is thankful for. Add one a day in November and by Thanksgiving it's full.
What you need
- A few bare branches in a jar, or a brown paper trunk taped to the wall
- Paper leaves in fall colors, or our printable feathers and leaves
- Markers, string or tape

Gratitude prompts kids love
- A person who helped me this week…
- Something in nature I love…
- A food I'm thankful for…
- Something that made me laugh…
- A way I can help someone else…
Keep it growing
For classrooms, the Gratitude & Feelings Journal offers a daily thankful page, and the Turkey Gratitude Craft makes a matching bulletin board.
Thanksgiving Day tradition
On Thanksgiving, read the leaves aloud before the meal. Save them in an envelope labeled with the year so you can compare next November.
